In a surprising turn of events, a cannabis shop in Khon Kaen fell victim to a stealthy theft. The perpetrator, a regular customer of the shop, made off with three jars of high-value cannabis strains, totaling 30,000 baht. The incident, which occurred around 11:00 AM on December 29, 2026, was captured on the shop’s CCTV cameras.
The thief, estimated to be between 35-40 years old, arrived at the shop on a bicycle and took advantage of a moment when the front of the shop was unattended. He entered through the back door, wearing a cap, long-sleeved shirt, long pants, and a face mask. The CCTV footage showed him opening a drawer and swiftly taking three jars containing the strains Acai, Apex, and Lemon Skunk, each weighing 10 grams and valued at 10,000 baht per jar.
Interestingly, the thief ignored the cash stored in the same drawer, indicating his specific interest in the cannabis strains. The shop manager, Mr. Athipat, expressed surprise that the thief, a regular customer, would commit such an act. Following the incident, a report was filed with the Muang Khon Kaen Police Station for further investigation and to apprehend the culprit.
This incident not only raises concerns about the security of cannabis shops but also underscores the high demand and value of premium cannabis strains in Thailand. As the cannabis industry continues to grow, such incidents may prompt shop owners to reassess their security measures.
