CHIANG MAI – Residents of a village in Chiang Mai are voicing their concerns over a cannabis farm that has been causing discomfort due to its strong odor. The smell has led to throat and nasal irritation among the villagers, with some reporting illnesses.
The local municipality confirmed that the farm had not been granted permission to cultivate cannabis. However, the farm’s legal representative, Mr. Thawatchai Kantawan, stated that they had appealed the decision. During a recent meeting with over 30 affected villagers, the consensus was clear: such businesses should be situated away from residential areas.
The concerned villagers are now taking collective action, gathering evidence and preparing to file a police report. They also plan to escalate the issue to higher authorities, seeking a resolution that prioritizes the well-being of the community.
