PATONG, PHUKET – In a recent crackdown on drug-related activities in Patong, a staffer from an entertainment venue on Bangla Road was apprehended for selling fake illegal drugs to tourists. The Phuket Express reports that the Patong Police arrested the suspect, identified only as Mr. Prawit, who was found peddling medicine as an illegal substance.
According to The Phuket Express, Prawit tested positive for methamphetamine. He was caught with five small plastic bags containing Tramadol powder, totaling 3.37 grams. Tramadol, typically used for severe pain relief, was being misrepresented by Prawit as a more potent illegal drug. He confessed to purchasing the Tramadol from a pharmacy and selling it to foreign tourists for 1,000 baht per bag, exploiting its resemblance to heroin and cocaine.
Prawit’s arrest at the Patong Police Station involves charges of selling medicine without permission and using illegal drugs. The Phuket Express notes that the name of the venue where Prawit was employed has not been disclosed by the police.
