The Bhumjaithai Party, led by Mr. Srithong Kiewkong, is pushing forward with the proposal of the cannabis and hemp bill to the Parliament. The party emphasizes that the legislation is solely for medical and research purposes, excluding recreational use. The content of the proposed bill consists of 94 sections across 11 categories, mirroring the original draft. The primary goal is to benefit the public by unlocking the potential of cannabis after its removal from the list of narcotic drugs.

Furthermore, the party highlighted that 21 companies have invested in cannabis with a total value of 10 billion baht. Hemp, on the other hand, is being utilized in various industries. If Thailand fails to address political conflicts and continues to classify cannabis as a narcotic drug, it might miss out on the potential benefits. The Prime Minister, Mr. Srettha Thavisin, has also expressed his support for the medical approach to cannabis policy.

In addition, regarding the Land Bridge project connecting Chumphon and Ranong, Mr. Srithong, representing the southern MPs, has urged the Minister of Transport, Mr. Suriya Rungreungkij, to reconsider and proceed with the project, fearing the country might lose its overall benefits.
