A 19-year-old vocational student, allegedly under the influence of cannabis, fired six shots at his brother-in-law, who was preparing snacks for sale. The incident occurred at 20:35 on September 19th, 2023. The grandmother, witnessing the event, bravely intervened, preventing the young man from firing further shots. The injured 41-year-old man was immediately taken to the hospital and is currently in a coma.
Eyewitnesses, including the homeowner, stated that the student regularly consumed cannabis. The couple involved usually had a harmonious relationship, and there had been no previous disputes. It is speculated that the student’s actions were influenced by the drug.
During the initial police investigation, the student appeared disoriented and claimed that the injured man wanted to purchase a .22 caliber gun. Fearing that the man would use the weapon against him, the student used his own firearm, which he had purchased online for 10,000 baht, and fired six rounds. He admitted to consuming cannabis and believed the injured man intended to shoot him.
Authorities have taken the student into custody and are conducting further investigations in accordance with the law.
